However some related activities, inc. soliciting (walking the streets for the purpose of prostitution, in a public place), brothels, pimping, kerb crawling, are not legal and you may face prosecution. Advertisements for escorting or for the sale of sex is legal.
In Northern Ireland, paying for sex id now illegal as from June 2015
In England and Wales, it is a crime to pay for sex if the person/escort is "subjected to force" (people can still be prosecuted even when they do not know the escort was forced).
In many areas of the UK these laws are not always enforced, many police forces in the United Kingdom turn a blind eye to many brothels. Brothels usually refer to them self as massage parlours
It is illegal to buy sex from a person younger than 18 anywhere in the United Kingdom.
